"Thank you for the most amazing transformational weekend! I am so grateful to have met so many beautiful people and to have the opportunity to share dreams, food, laughs, dance and so much more! Being surrounded by the welcoming trees at Koinonia made it even more spiritual and inviting. Thank you Steve and your staff for sharing your Koinonia experience with us." ~Angie Kweselait Connections:

And Of Course, The Labyrinth

We started our transformational weekend on Friday evening, June 27 with a powerful speech by our keynote speaker, Janice Billera. She pointed out that we are on a retreat - it's a treat for us to do over and over again. This is our time to honor and take care of ourselves.
Steve of Koinonia then took us on an amazing moonlit hike where we got to experience being in nature, in the dark of night, without any fear of the unknown. Each of us got to experience being "alone" in the woods at night in an exercise where he had us walk together as a group and then separate one by one. We were only ten steps apart from each other, but were each able to have a moment of peaceful solitude.
Saturday was quite a day. Everyone started their day as they needed to. Some practiced yoga, qigong, or meditated while others slept in. The day was filled with workshops where we learned about being true to ourselves, feng shui, growing our businesses, yoga, using the healing principles of food, qigong, djembe and some got to go out on the lake in kayaks to learn about water ecology.
Saturday night was the height of the weekend with our drumming circle led by Mark Wood. Janet StraightArrow opened up a safe space for everyone to experience the rhythm of the drums and express themselves. Many grabbed a drum to play along and others got up and danced around the fire in the center of the circle. Some took the experience outdoors and watched the fireflies light up to the beat of the drums. It was liberating.
Sunday's events were a perfect culmination to the weekend. Linda showed each of us just how wonderful of a gift we each are to the world during her moving speech. Some finished their weekend on a short vision quest, some created their own vision board and others took in the labyrinth.
We celebrated a weekend of learning, connecting, fantastic food, and great energy with more drumming. Everyone's exuberance in that circle said it all - a transformation had taken place in each of us. See you next year at Koinonia!
