Omar Rashed is the Research & Public Policy Director for the Holistic Mentorship Network, where he leads legislative research and public policy outreach on behalf of HMN membership. He is the voice of HMN to local, state, and federal representatives.
Omar concurrently teaches at Rutgers University's School of Social Work. In previous positions, he has conducted legislative outreach on behalf of faith organizations, has worked as a lobbyist supporting the National Association of Social Workers, has worked as the Social Work fellow for U.S. Congressman Edolphus Towns, and has coordinated the policy outreach and advocacy for low-income public housing residents.
Omar earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and then went on to the University of Michigan where he earned his Master's of Social Work (MSW).
Omar is passionate about social justice at all levels, including fighting poverty, advocating for proper health care institutions, creating sustainable and effective education systems for our and all children, and developing a positive relationship between people of all faiths and backgrounds. He is a practicing Muslim, which guides his passion for social justice in all domains of life."
